of southern maryland primarily. the overall broader sweep showing rainfall. spots have had half an inch to well over an inch. sometimes too much too fast in southern carroll county, southern howard county and gom go. showers in southern maryland and one renegade thunderstorm in delaware. on the whole we have not seen a lot of new rain in the last hour or so. in annapolis we had quite a bit of rain on and off. ugly looking day. your classic october gray rolling in with downpours. take a look at the mountains. in frostburg tough to see and this fog is something we're looking to overspread central maryland as well. you get the idea of reducing the visibility out there. it could be tough to drive. this could last into your early morning commute. take a look at the current conditions in baltimore. we've got 70 with humidity at 90%, very muggy air, very little wind. that, plus the rain, a recipe for more fog. temperatures low 60s to the west. 70 in baltimore. we have 80s on the eastern shore. warm air has moved in from the south. here are the visibility reports, 10-miles to the horizon.

clear on i-95 from baltimore as well as va into the beltway. out of southern maryland, route 4 and route 5, there is nothing to report. 95 in virginia has some delays. out of dale city and an accident just before lee chapel road. >> the time is 6:32. in montana a winter storm is complicating the search for two local veterinarians who were hiking. they were reported missing when they did not show up for their return flight home on friday. brianne carter joins us from the alabamvienna. >> one of them as an animal cardiologists. the two men have not been heard from in nearly one week. last tuesday, they entered an area without cell phone reception. the two hikers went hiking last week at glacier national park in montana. there was supposed to fly home friday and never made the flight. the national park service has sent dozens out of the efforts are hampered by up to a foot and a half of snow. the snow may have caused the band to lose the trail and get lost. officials said they found a campsite that may have belonged to the two men and located the car they were using but have not found

plata in southern maryland 65 miles per hour, but you get into extreme southern maryland into st. mary's county. we just saw a wind gust st. mary's city of 63 miles per hour and the big winds aren't even here yet, rainfall 4 to 8 inches, some areas from annapolis and across the bay could see as much as 12, general range of 5 to 10 inches for annapolis and you certainly will have a wind gust in excess of 74 miles per hour. the doppler radar, here's the next batch of heavy rain. we still have at least one more heavy band to go through. that will dump another couple inches on top of already anywhere from 4 to 6 inches. heaviest band now up 270, either side. now we see this band rotating a bit across the river. this is going to get into fairfax and loudoun county shortly. she's going to be a historic storm. there is no doubt about that. a critical time between now and noon tomorrow, maybe we extend that a little bit north and west of town. damaging winds 45 to 75 miles per hour and, well, already seeing the street and river flooding. that's already going on. let's talk about a couple other t

toward southern maryland, areas south and east of washington as we get into the next few hours. your afternoon certainly is going to be impacted. out west, you get toward i-81, you may not be seeing all that much. look at the rains coming in through frederick to brunswick, from leesburg west and into charles town. there's moderate rainfall. this is all lifting northeast, even into central and northern montgomery county. you get farther south and southwest, south of warrenton, then we're just into general showers. sperryville its a little bit heavier. we have light showers now falling across southern maryland, back toward colonial beach and port royal and the northern neck. we'll be dealing with the rain showers on and off, maybe some thunderstorms for the afternoon. if you have outdoor plans, that could be a problem. one good thing today, temperatures are way up. we have low 70s now in town. 60s north and west. itas a mild morning. for the rest the afternoon, these clouds will give way to some showers around at times between now and let's say 6:00, maybe some thunder. winds will turn

fredericksburg and southern maryland. monika samtani? >>> and so have maryland state police now calling these two separate accidents he on the inner loop before route 355 a lengthy operation. quote unquote. and that's because two tractor- trailers are involved and they have to drain the fuel out of both of them. so it's going to take a while. let's take a live look outside. first of all, on our mdot camera inner loop of the beltway you can just see the flashing lights here, i think they were trying to see if they can get a closeup shot of it. all you can do is see the flashing lights which is just telling you that they're there on the scene and no one is getting by on the inner loop before route 355. let's see if we can take a look at the delay from our chart camera and this is the spur as i said, even as you come down on 270 trying to get to the inner loop of the beltway, this is what you're dealing with. no one is moving. and you're at home right now watching that means you need to choose your alternate routes. not a good idea. if you head east on the beltway from bethesda int

heavy rain right across the bay. and now that is moving into southern maryland now into our eastern suburbs, prince george's county getting a band of heavy rain. that's going to be continuing to track west and sweep right through the metro area, continuing to sweep farther west and all the way out into the mountains. in some parts of southern west virginia, they're getting snow. a blizzard warning out there. much of the mountain region from western maryland to west virginia. 6 to 12 inches of snow throughout the day into tomorrow. 5 to 10 inches of rain these counties in green, northern virginia and maryland. in addition, gusts of wind to 70 miles an hour. all these in color are the high wind warning from this morning all the way into tuesday morning. that's when we're going to have the power outages, tree limbs and maybe even some trees getting toppled from those very strong winds. hour by hour, increasing rain, increasing wind throughout the day. now to traffic with danella. >> between westmoreland street and haycock road, all lanes blocked. bethesda, high standing water. it close

into southern maryland. we're picking that up also toward reedville and the northern neck. locally we're seeing a little enhancement of the rains in montgomery county, down toward waldorf, through d.c. and this is only the beginning of what's probably going to be a very long 36 hours or so around here. here's the latest on sandy as of the 2:00 a.m. advisory. still 75 mile an hour sustained winds, gusts to 90. pressure down to 950. this is one of the lowest pressures i've seen on the entire storm. this thing is probably going to get a little bit stronger before it comes inland. it is starting to interact with the upper level winds. a storm like this, a situation like this could really only happen in a very short time period late october because you wouldn't ha the winter type winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere. any later it starts to get too cold to get tropical systems in the atlantic. here's the latest track from the hurricane center. they strengthen to 80 mile an hour winds at monday at 8:00. the belief it will be an extra tropical storm, more of a nor'easter. making lan

eastern shore, the delmarva. they're now starting to move across the bay. southern maryland, st. mary's, calvert county seeing it. even up toward baltimore more moderate rain. this goes down toward the northern neck now. it's creeping off toward the west. even in town we're looking at some moderate showers which have been moving in here with the lighter rains out to the west. but although the rain is moving -- but all the rain is moving off toward the west. we're expecting these hurricane force winds in red. the damaging tropical storm, more damaging winds here, tropical storm, 58 miles an hour, a hurricane. then the yellow would be tropical storm force winds. i'll give you the timetable. by 8:00, some more damaging winds get just east of us covering the bay and look at this. hurricane force winds delaware, southern new jersey, ocean city as well down to around assateague. they'll be moving inland. oh, man, we're looking at gusts tonight into 6:00 a.m., the first time i'm seeing this potentially gusting to hurricane force even in the washington baltimore metro, upper part of the bay. so
